How to measure your room

A simple step by step guide to calculating your floor area accurately
Square or Rectangular Rooms
Measure the total length of the room from wall to wall (labeled as side a).
Measure the total width of the room from wall to wall (labeled as side b).
Multiply the length by the width to get your total floor area (A) in square meters.
Calculation
5.0m x 5.0m = 25 m2
L-shaped Rooms
Visually split the room into two distinct rectangular sections (Area 1 and Area 2).
Measure the length and width of Area 1 (3m and 2m) and multiply them together to get the square meterage for that specific zone.
Measure the length and width of Area 2 (5m and 5m) and multiply them together for that zone.
Add the final numbers of both areas together to find the room's total size.
Calculation
Area 1 (6 m²) + Area 2 (25 m²) = 31 m2
Complex or Irregular Room
Draw a rough sketch of your room and divide it into standard rectangular zones (Area A, B, C, and D).
Measure the length and width of each individual zone separately.
Multiply the specific length and width of each zone to find their individual square meter calculations.
Sum the areas of all the separate zones together. This gives you the final, highly accurate total area of your complex space.
Calculation
A + B + C + D = 46 m2
